DEATH PENALTY VIGIL
The monthly vigil against the death penalty will be held this Friday from noon to 1 p.m.in front of the State House in Concord. Please come for all or any part of the hour to demonstrate your support of repeal of the costly, unnecessary and barbaric practice of government execution. Signs will be available there, but feel free to bring a sign with your own message.
Vigils are held on the Fourth Friday of each month.

The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union (NHCLU) was founded in 1968, and is the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). We are a nonpartisan organization that defends civil liberties in the courtroom and in the legislature and seeks to expand awareness of individual rights in the classroom, in civic groups and in the media.
The NHCLU Foundation is our 501 (c) (3) organization.
The Foundation provides:
- Representation for those whose rights have been violated and challenges laws that infringe on individual freedom.
- The Foundation also educates students and other citizens about civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.
The NHCLU and the NHCLU Foundation are governed by separate Boards of Directors made up of volunteers from across New Hampshire. A small professional staff maintains the office in Concord.

Mission Statement
The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union was founded to defend those freedoms which are guaranteed to every individual by the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. Throughout history, frequent attempts have been made to curtail the civil liberties of groups with radical or unpopular positions or associations. The NHCLU is often the only organization able to act to protect those who would otherwise stand along in defense of their Constitutional rights in New Hampshire.
The NHCLU and its Foundation have three principal objectives in the fight to preserve civil liberties:
- Representation of people whose rights have been violated;
- Education of citizens concerning their civil liberties under the Constitution;
- Challenges to laws which infringe on individual freedom.
